_________________________________________________June 22nd, 2020

Hello everyone,

Hard to believe we are into our last week of school.  It has been a very strange year but it was so great to see so many of you learning in new, creative ways and you should be very proud of yourselves.  I’m sure 2020 has made you stronger in many ways.

Sixth class, well done on being such great role models throughout your time at Cootehall N.S.  You will be greatly missed next year but there are many exciting times ahead for you all.  Look out for each other and always be your incredible selves!

Fifth class, I’m looking forward to seeing you all again in September and hearing about all the wonderful things you have being doing.

As always, if you need anything please feel free to send me an email at any time.  Have a brilliant summer and I will be in touch.

All the best.

chance to pick up your sunflower seeds at the school, you were always great workers in the school garden. If not, there will be more available on Tuesday.
On Pentecost Sunday, when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Kevin invites those of you preparing for Confirmation, to join him for Mass online from St. Patrick’s Church, Strandhill at 11.00 am., 31 st May  churchservices.tv/strandhill .
Sixth class, I know some of you are a little disappointed that you won’t get the send-off you truly deserve from primary school. Please take a look at this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB7iN53wpdQ&feature=youtu.be from famous writer’s, sports people, actors, scientists and activists and know that you aren’t forgotten about!

Lego Creations

Having listened to the history of Lego here https://www.literacyshed.com/legostory.html , children used their own Lego at home to build these fantastic creations!

Meanwhile Ryan was getting creative in other ways, making a picnic bench for outside!

Robbie’s Windmill

Check out Robbie’s very impressive windmill below, using Lego and an old printer motor.

Lovely to see such creativity!

Grandparents Poems

Lots of us are missing our Grandparent’s during these difficult times and looking forward to seeing them again.  Here are some of the poems 5th and 6th class wrote for Grandparent’s Day back in January. Just click on the link below.

grandparents poems

Thanks Robbie for this poem. Keep sending in the work everyone!

Dear Parents,

I hope that the children were able to do some of the work that was suggested. Thank you to those who sent in feedback.

Tyler has been busy drawing and the results are fantastic.

Check these drawings out. Well done Tyler.

If you want to send in a selection of your best work  feel free!!

Regards,

Ms.Gilhooly

Dear Parents,

Hope you are all keeping safe and well during this difficult time.

I have set out work for the children for the next while which will see them up until Easter.

Children can complete the majority of their work in a copy/refill pad/computer (Whatever is accessible to them).

I understand that it may not be feasible for everyone to complete all of the below work at home. The majority of the work relies on access to the internet.

Children please do what you are able to and do not worry if you cannot complete all the work.

If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me at cootehallns@gmail.com

You can also send on some pictures/samples of the children’s great work; I would love to hear from them.

Thank you and take care.

Science Week

We had so much fun putting on a science show for the younger classes as part of Science Week.  Some of our experiments included turning coins green, making baths bombs, creating electrical circuits and of course making lots of messy explosions to show various chemical reactions.

Junior Entrepreneur Programme

This year our class are putting our entrepreneurial skills to the test and coming up with a product that we feel will benefit the local community.  We presented our ideas to three local “Dragons” who offered us fantastic advice in how to set up our own business

Cycle Safety Training

5th and 6th class took part in 4 weeks of cycling training as a lot of our class enjoy cycling to school.  When we were all familiar with the rules of the road and how to be responsible cyclists, we went on a trip to the local organic gardens.
