Dear Parents and Students,

It seems like ages ago when we were all in school. Little did we realise what was going to unfold. Although we are now used to the lockdown and restrictions and we are doing some wonderful schoolwork from home we think that we are all ready for a return to some sense of normality.

You might even say we all are really wishing we can go back to school, meet and play with our friends and let those at home have a well-deserved break.

At the moment though school buildings are closed. We are told that schools will reopen in September, how that will happen we will learn at a later date and let everybody know when we know.

September seems like a long time away and we in the school just want to let everyone of you know that we are wishing you all well and hope that you are all taking care. We wanted to do something that will help us all mark the passing of this time before we get back to school.

Outside the school wall we have left some sunflower seeds, compost, pots, trowels, gloves and wipes.

So if you are passing the school on your essential journey or as part of your exercise, be it walking, cycling, roller skating or whatever we  invite you (each family) to take an envelope of seeds and plant the seeds in a pot of compost to take home.

We ask everybody to keep their social distance and keep all public health and government advice when doing this. If you are not within 5 km of the school let us know and we can get the seeds (But not the compost!) to you.

Children look after your plants at home, water them and watch them grow. As they grow you will know that that means the time to return to school is coming closer and when your sunflower appears hopefully that will mean that the time to return to school has come. Don’t forget to take pictures as it is growing and share these by emailing the pictures to us.

Keep working hard at your schoolwork for the rest of this term.

Kind regards and take care.

From all in Cootehall NS.
