My trip to the bog was fun and I learnt a lot about bogs. Bog is made out of Peat and needs Sphagnum Moss for it to be active. Sphagnum Moss acts like a sponge and soaks up water. There are 3 types of bog. The blanket bog is located on mountainsides throughout the country and in lowlands in the west. Raised bog is found mainly in the Midlands. The third bog, floating bog, is formed on top of lakes and is pretty rare to find! When stepped on, it feels like walking on a trampoline! We also learnt about the flowers that has adapted to living on bogs, such as Sundews and Butterworts. The next time I go there I wouldn’t want to change a thing! – Well, except for the weather maybe!
